Software Engineer Internship (Full-Time)

Your role

As a Software Engineer Intern at Oceano Robotics, you will contribute to the development of advanced subsea monitoring technologies that support safe and efficient offshore operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software for processing and analysing sensor data.
  • Build and optimize data pipelines for real‑time inspection and monitoring of offshore components.
  • Implement algorithms for signal processing, anomaly detection, and degradation trend analysis.
  • Integrate sensing and analysis software with robotic platforms and underwater monitoring systems.
  • Create simulation or digital‑twin environments to model structural behaviour under subsea conditions.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure software tools support effective inspection, testing, and system reliability.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an HBO/WO Software Engineering or Computer Science program or similar field.
  • Strong background in software engineering, with interest in robotics, simulation, or the interaction between software and mechanical systems.
  • Experience or interest in:
    – Software simulation tools (e.g., physics engines, digital twins)
    – Robotics software frameworks (e.g., ROS, Gazebo)
    – Control systems development or embedded software programming
    – Prototyping software tools (e.g., Git, CI/CD workflows, API integration)
  • Detail-oriented, analytical mindset with a drive to understand and improve system performance.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Nice to have:
    – Knowledge of subsea/offshore infrastructure
    – Understanding of corrosion, fatigue, and degradation in harsh environments

Mechatronics Internship (Full-Time)

Your role

As a Mechatronics Intern at Oceano Robotics, you will contribute to the development, testing, and integration of robotic systems and sensing technologies used for monitoring and inspection of subsea structures. You will work at the intersection of mechanics, electronics, and control systems to help advance next‑generation underwater inspection solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and integration of electromechanical systems for subsea sensing and robotic inspection.
  • Build, test, and validate mechatronic prototypes, including actuators, sensor modules, and embedded control systems.
  • Assist in developing control algorithms for robotic motion, sensor positioning, and automated measurement tasks.
  • Perform system‑level testing to ensure mechanical, electronic, and software components operate reliably in underwater environments.
  • Contribute to the design and assembly of test setups that simulate subsea conditions such as pressure, corrosion, and dynamic loading.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electronics, and software engineers to ensure robust system behaviour and overall performance.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an HBO/WO program in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong foundation in electromechanical systems, robotics, or controls.
  • Experience or interest in:
    – Embedded systems or microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, STM32, Raspberry Pi)
    – Basic electronics design, wiring, and sensor integration
    – Control systems, actuators, and system dynamics
    – CAD or 3D modeling tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, etc.)
    – Testing, validation, and hands‑on prototyping
  • Practical, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working with both hardware and software tools.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
